Rewind is built to keep your photography private. Almost everything happens on your device. This explains the few things that ever leave it — and they only do when you choose. Rewind is operated by Rewind Camera LLC ("we", "us").
Your photographs are captured, developed, and stored entirely on your device (and in iCloud if you have iCloud Photos enabled — we have no access to it). Roll state — which frame you're on, the camera and stock assigned at development, your favorites — is stored locally and deleted with the app. We do not upload, collect, or transmit your photos or any audio you record — except a single photo you explicitly choose to submit to be featured, described below.
Featured submissions. If you tap "Submit to be featured" on a photo, that one image, the Instagram handle you enter, and an anonymous app ID are sent to our server so we can consider the photo for a feature and credit or reach you. We never send a photo you haven't chosen to submit. Submitted images are stored on Cloudflare and deleted if they aren't featured within about thirty days. Submitting a photo grants the license described in our Terms.
Anonymous app ID. A random identifier created when you install the app — no name, email, or account. It is used only to mark your shot as Featured in your app if one of your submissions is curated.
If you grant location permission, the app can tag a photo with where it was taken, shown in that photo's details. This is captured and stored entirely on your device and is never transmitted — it is not included when you submit a photo to be featured. You can decline or revoke location permission at any time; the app works fully without it.
If you grant microphone permission, the app can record short ambient sound clips that attach to a roll — a few seconds of the sound around a photo. Recorded audio is stored entirely on your device and is never transmitted — it is not uploaded and is never included when you submit a photo to be featured. If you choose to export a sound clip paired with a still, that video is saved to your own Photos library at your request. You can decline or revoke microphone permission at any time; the app works fully without it.
With your permission, the app sends notifications when a roll finishes developing and when the monthly film drops. These are scheduled locally on your device.
Film and Rewind Lab membership are purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes payment — we never see your payment details.
Submitted images, handles, and the anonymous app ID are stored on Cloudflare (R2 and D1) with restricted access. Everything else lives only on your device and is removed when you delete the app.
We rely on Apple (App Store and payments) and Cloudflare (hosting for submissions). We do not sell your data, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
Rewind is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
You can ask us to remove a photo you submitted, or any data tied to your anonymous app ID, by emailing support@rewindcamera.io.
